Just a Regular Week...
This week has been a lot slower with customers then normal but I have gotten to do and learn new things because of it!!!
I worked in our shade plant area lots... The shade plants we have are impatience...
Begonias...
Coleus...
Fuchsias... Sorry I don't have a picture of any fuchsias...
And we keep the sun-patience over there too but it likes the sun... Its easier for the customer to find it with the other impatience!!!
In the same corner of the greenhouse we have lobelia and alissum...
Both of these kinds of plants can rot very easily if they get too much water and not enough air flow... I had the wonderful opportunity to clean out all the rotting plants this week... I ended up throwing out over a hundred flats of alissum and only a couple of lobelia but it was a good learning experience because we had too much on our tables and watered it way too much...
We got in a new shipment of alissum and it is looking great now... and smells a lot better too!!!!
Another learning experience that comes to mind is taking care of pests...
We don't have a lot of bugs but a greenhouse is a perfect place for them so its hard to go a whole season and not have any...
I got to learn how to find the bugs...
Gather the plants with bugs...
Mix the spray...
Spray the plants...
How long to wait...
And then I got to put all the plants back!!!
It was a very fun process and I am sure I will get to use this knowledge in my future!!!
I also got to work in perennials for a couple days this week and that was a blast!!!! I learned so much and would spend weeks out there learning more and more!!!!
I got to help put out and price lots but I also got to help with some end caps and displays for our sale we will be having next week!!!
